Demographic Dilemma

During 1954, our family doctor, one doctor Basu had a pet subject, that of explosion of Muslim population in West Bengal. Every time we met he would reel off figures of thousands who were coming awway as refugees from the then East Pakistan while no Muslims left India. Later too, for years his lament was the proliferation of the Muslims as Hindus were watching helplessly. How true his worry was we can see now.

Today it is not merely the demographic explosion but also the influx of Bangladeshi Muslims. Some time back in a national daily, a writer was pleading that the estimated two crore bangladeshis should be absorbed by India as they can be of service.

On top of it look at the malignant cancer called conversions which is affecting the country. The Deccan Chronicle of 19th October 2004 carried in its headlines a news item " PW calls for destruction of Hinduism by the Dalits", followed a report couple of days later about conversion of 1500 Dalits into Buddhism.

As the last straw on camel's back, a Christian chief minister of a state wanted to reserve 5% seats for Muslims in all state government jobs. Then the central govt. makes a similar intention , just before elections in a state and though the Election commission disapproved of it, their aim is achieved in gaining an obvious solid vote bank.

A net increase of over 10 Crore of Muslims since independence, illegal immigration of more than 2 Crores, conversion by means fair or foul, with millions of dollars and petro dollars being pumped in, reservations aiding conversions, what else is there to make the Hindu cup of woes overflow, one wonders!

I will later reproduce some erudite articles by well known writers for seeing the writing on the wall by the Hindus forebading another truncation of the country, a few thousand more temples demolished and a few Crores of Hindus trudging along whereto, their God only can tell!
